Compared to asphalt or shakes, metal roofing is far more durable and much longer-lasting solution for roofs. Most clients choose metal will never have to think about re-roofing again for decades. With a 50-100 year life span depending on the exposed fastener or standing seam product this could last a lifetime.
Moss- and Fungus-Proof
Metal is unaffected by the growth of mildew, fungus, and moss. All of the common problems associated with asphalt, cedar shingles and shakes do not effect metal.
Fire Resistance
Another big benefit of a metal roof is that it is fire-resistant making it an important positive in areas prone to wildfires. Areas with extreme weather such as hail, wind or snow metal will meet or exceed the strictest building codes in the US.
3-tab shingles, on the other hand, can be easily damaged by wind speeds of 60+ miles per hour. Poor installations will become damaged or blow off completely. We do not install these shingles for full installs just small repairs. Higher end metal roofs can benefit from insurers discounts of up to 30 percent on the roof.
